Primary 2012: Barr Wins GOP 6th Congressional District

Republican Andy Barr easily won the Primary in the 6th Congressional District. He'll face Democratic incumbent Ben Chandler for the second straight time in the General Election.

Lexington attorney Andy Barr easily won the GOP Primary in the 6th Congressional District. 

That sets up a rematch with Democratic incumbent Ben Chandler in November.  Chandler beat Barr by just 647-votes two years ago. 

In Tuesday's Primary, Barr defeated Lexington software engineer Patrick Kelly II and Bourbon County horse farmer Curtis Kenimer.  Both ran limited campaigns.

Here are the numbers with 100% of the precincts reporting:

Barr, Andy     20,093    83%

Kelly, Patrick    2,823   12%

Kenimer, Curtis  1,353   6%

Ben Chandler has held the 6th District seat in Congress since 2004.  He was unopposed in Tuesday's Primary.
