Police say technology foiled two crooks' plan to steal $70,000 in merchandise from a Lowe's in Jeffersontown.

Investigators say they're on tape, hot wiring a forklift and moving supplies toward a door.

Police say the 2 were able to disable the store's main alarm system.

But that wasn't enough.

Jeffersontown Police Detective Ted Spegal says, "What they didn't count on was that most specialty stores have layers of security systems. So even if you deactivate one, there's certainly several other redundancy systems that's in play."

Police say another alarm went off and tipped off police.

They arrived and arrested the two.
