The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two teens for a plot to kill one of the teen's parents.

The Sheriff said just after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, Paul Scott Young, 18, stabbed Edwin D. Phelps,43. When troopers arrived they said Phelps had multiple cuts and a stab wound. Phelps told police Young attacked him in his bedroom, and he was able to hold him off until police arrived, which police said may have prevented his wife from being attacked.

According to police, Phelps was treated at the scene, and transported by Somerset-Pulaski County EMS and later flown to the U.K. Medical Center for treatment.

The Pulaski County Sheriff said the investigation uncovered a plot by the victim’s 17-year-old son and Paul Scott Young, 18, to murder the child’s parents. Investigators said the the juvenile asked Young to kill his parents and let him into the house earlier in the evening.

Young has been charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder and is being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center. The 17-year-old juvenile has been taken into custody and charged with two counts of criminal solicitation to commit murder. The sheriff said they aren't yet sure of a motive.
