Lexington Police say it’s the fire truck driver’s fault for the accident that killed a woman in downtown Lexington Saturday night.

In a report released today, police say Lauren Roady, 27, had the right of way while crossing Broadway when the fire truck hit and killed her.

Police say the fire truck was driven by Christopher Presley, 40.

According to the accident report, Presley was turning off of Main Street onto Broadway when he hit Roady in the middle of the crosswalk.

The city says Firefighter Presley was alone in the truck at the time of the accident. He was headed to St. Joseph Hospital to pickup two firefighters who normally rode with him, but they had gone to the hospital with the ambulance after a call.

Presley’s personnel file has several letters in it, praising him for his performance as a firefighter.

Presley did not on his application to become a firefighter that he had three moving violations in 1990, 1992 and 1994. He paid fines for them and also went to traffic school for the first violation.

The Fire Department says Presley remains on paid administrative leave.

The Lexington Police documents say no criminal charges are expected to be filed against Presley.
