Lexington Police said a medical emergency caused a driver to crash his car through the front of a Radio Shack Friday night.

Lexington Police said a medical emergency caused a driver to crash his car through the front of a Radio Shack Friday night.

They said it happened just before 10 p.m. at Man O’ War Boulevard and Nichols Park Drive.

Police said the man was driving in the right hand lane on Man O’ War, approaching the light at Nichols Park Drive.

Witnesses told police he was driving really slowly – like he had a flat tire. They said he stopped at the red light, but then accelerated when it turned green.

That’s when police said he grazed the side of a car and also hit a light pole, meter and power box.

Officers said he went off the road and down an embankment, then through some bushes and a fence.

After crossing the parking lot, police said he crashed through the front of a Radio Shack.

According to police, the man was taken to the hospital for treatment. Hospital workers told police the man is diabetic and had low blood sugar, but is expected to be ok.

No one else was in the car at the time.

Radio Shack was closed tonight when the accident happened and no one was inside the store.
