Police say early Tuesday morning a man posed as a police officer and stole a woman's purse.

Police say it happened just after midnight on Deer Lake Drive in Lexington.

The victim told police that a man approached her, and shined a flashlight in her face. He identified himself as a police officer and threatened to shoot her. The man then stole the victim's purse and took off.

The woman was unable to get a good look at the man, but says he was wearing grey shorts.

The woman was unhurt in the incident.
