Richmond police have arrested a man they say passed a school bus that was stopped and unloading children.

Michael Murphy, 22, is charged with wanton endangerment.

Police say Murphy disregarded the stop sign and flashing lights on the bus on Boggs Lane Wednesday.

According to authorities, Murphy's car nearly struck a six-year-old girl getting off the bus and her mother waiting to greet her.

I am the mother that was walking my child across the street when this man never even slowed down!!! My daughter says to me, "mommy, he's not gonna stop", and right then there was about 3 inches between his car and our backside! All the other cars were stopped, so why should he not?! We had several witnesses that saw exactly what happened, and Michael chose not to even tap his brakes after he flew passed us doing about 45 miles an hr. Thank God that the police caught him right up the street. And why is your so called great friend driving around on a suspended license?!?! My child is scared to even cross the street now!

Ok So i think I learned more from 2 comments than I did from the story,,So he would never try to hurt a kid,,but did he disregard the stop sign and pass a school bus while unloading? If he did do that the he is guilty of what he was charged with, accident or not. From your comment I am sure he did not mean to and being a father himself I am sure he is remorseful for his actions, at least i would hope so. let's all be thankful that no children were killed by the actions of a good man who mad a mistake..Good man or not, if he did it, then he did it.. The other says that since the age was wrong then why believe the entire story,,because it happen. A young, loving father, made a mistake. Thank God no one was injured, but he made a mistake and that is accurate enough..Learn from it, pay the penalties, and move forward..
