Police: Man Charged With Botched Robbery Attempt

According to court documents, a man accused of a botched robbery attempt at a Lexington Subway restaurant is now in the Fayette County Detention Center.
Police charged a man in connection to a robbery attempt at a Lexington Subway restaurant earlier this month.

Jason Hunter, 28, was arrested in Richmond on May 15th in connection to the May 4th robbery at the restaurant, court documents said. Hunter is now behind bars in the Fayette County Detention Center.

According to police reports, Hunter walked into the Subway on Saron Drive and handed a female employee a note that read, "Give me money."

That woman, along with a male coworker ran toward the kitchen and tried to barricade themselves in, police said.

Hunter followed the two workers, pushed on the door and tried to hit the male employee.

The man fought back and pushed Hunter into a display in the restaurant, court documents said.

Hunter finally ran, taking off in a car parked outside.

That's when a woman came into the store and told the employees that she was with Hunter and had no idea his was robbing the place. She said she thought he was there to get food.

According to the police report, it was that woman who gave detectives the information to track Hunter down.

Hunter is scheduled to be arraigned in Fayette District Court on Wednesday.
