Police: Little Girl’s Tooth Knocked Out When Shoplifting Suspects Flee

A man was arrested after a shoplifting attempt at Fayette Mall turned violent on Saturday.

Wesley Sharpton-Smith, 18, is charged with Assault and Wanton Endangerment.

Police said he and another man were caught shoplifting around $250 worth of merchandise from Macy’s.

According to court documents, after the men were stopped by the store’s loss prevention employee, they began to hit the employee and then took off running.

Police said while trying to flee, one of the men knocked out a little girl’s tooth.

Sharpton-Smith is set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
