Police Investigating Stabbing Near EKU Campus

Richmond Police are investigating a stabbing just a few minutes away from the Eastern Kentucky University campus.

Police and fire crews were called around 2:30 a.m. to a home at 1 Wellington Court.

Police found a man with multiple serious stab wounds to his neck and abdomen.

The victim was transported to University of Kentucky hospital. Officials have not yet released the victim’s condition.

One person was detained by police on the scene. Police would not say if that person was arrested or charged with a crime.

Eastern Kentucky University police officers also responded to the scene. They would not say if they were assisting or if anyone involved was had ties to the university.
