Police, Health Department, DEA To Hold Drug Disposal Day

You can bring any unused prescription or over-the-counter drugs to the Franklin County Health Department from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Frankfort Police Department, Drug Enforcement Adminstration, and the Franklin County Health Department are hosting a medication disposal day Saturday, July 27th.

You can bring any unused prescription or over-the-counter drugs to the Franklin County Health Department from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Officers will collect and dispose of the medications in a way that is safe, legal, and environmentally conscious.

The DEA says in 2008, 6.2 million Americans 12 and older abused prescription drugs which is more than the number of people who are abusing cocaine, heroin, hallucinogens, and inhalants combined.

The goal of the event is to keep drugs out of the hands of potential abusers and out of landfills where it could contaminate soil or water.
