Lexington police are investigating an early morning break-in at a deli on Lexington’s pedestrian park, Cheapside.

Police said they responded to the Courtyard Deli around 1:30 a.m. Thursday after a burglar alarm alerted dispatchers to a possible break-in. When officers arrived, they found shattered glass and the front door open.

Police believe the suspect broke through the glass on the right side of the door to reach in and unlock it.

When officers searched the deli, they found the cash register broken open but were not able to tell if any money was taken.

A K-9 unit also responded to the break-in but was unable to get a track.

Police are trying to determine if there is any surveillance video of the crime.
