Police are having a difficult time figuring out how a truck flipped over on Baker Court in Lexington because the driver was gone when they got there.

Police were called to the scene at around 3:30 a.m. Monday for reports of a crash.

When officers arrived, they found a flatbed truck on its side but nobody was around the truck, officials said.

When officers ran the license plate, they found that the truck was registered to Shelter Distributions, a warehouse down the street.

In an effort to find the driver, officers headed to the warehouse. Instead of finding the driver, they found that someone had broken into the facility.

Police said the suspect took a forklift and loaded the truck before driving off.

According to officials, the driver lost control, crashed through a fence and flipped the truck on the side of the road.

Although officers couldn’t find the driver, they believe that the suspect is familiar with operations at the facility.

Police are still investigating.
