Four kids have been charged in a recent string of crimes in the McConnell’s Trace neighborhood off Leestown Road in Lexington.

Police said they found seven guns, three laptops and two game systems when the boys were caught.

Police said the four boys are charged with five different crimes: four burglaries and one robbery.

Police said the boys are between 11 and 13-years-old.

Monday, police said the boys stole popsicles from an ice cream truck that was parked on Trailwood Lane and they shot at the driver.

Police said the same kids then tried to break into a nearby home.

That homeowner was able to catch three of the kids and keep them until police arrived.

He said it’s alarming that kids right in his neighborhood are involved in violence at that level.

“By them living so close it brings it home even more, you're in the neighborhood that you're stealing and robbing people,” said the homeowner who didn’t want to give his name.

Police spent the afternoon searching the area for more things that could have been reportedly stolen by these same four kids.

They call it an ongoing investigation.
