Lexington Police shut down part of North Upper Street Monday night after officers said a man was shot.

According to investigators, someone flagged down an officer around 7:00 pm and said there was a disorder at Upper and 7th Street.

Police said they found a man with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

The victim reportedly told officers he had just left a house on North Upper when a group of men tried to steal his wallet.

Police said the men didn't get the wallet, but did steal the victim's pull-string bag before shooting him in the leg.

According to officers, they later recovered the stolen bag inside a home on North Upper.

Police said the seven people inside the house at the time are considered 'persons of interest' in the shooting investigation.

Officers said they arrested three people, including the witness, on unrelated charges.
