Police charged a young Lexington father with murder, and said he confessed to killing his one-month-old baby.
After a preliminary hearing Thursday morning, we learned more details about how the confession came about, and conflicting stories of what was said.
Filled with emotion, Hazuga told us he is innocent.
"I have no reason to lie about it," said Hazuga, in an interview from jail on December, 2nd.
The police report says Hazuga admitted to intentionally killing his infant son. The police report says Hazuga admitted to striking his baby's head on the kitchen counter multiple times.
"That came from them saying, 'Well you must have did. You must have hit his head off of something," said Hazuga.
Hazuga says he only confessed to end the interrogation. Hazuga says he gave police short answers like yea and sure.
In court Thursday, this is how a Lexington detective described the confession.
"His comment was I told you I slammed him on the expletive counter, and rolled him over, hit his head again, and then put him in my arms," said a Lexington Detective.
The detective says the baby's injuries included a skull fracture, and hemorrhaging behind his eye. The detective says the baby's injuries are not consistent with Hazuga's account of what happened.
Police are still waiting for the autopsy.
The judge ordered Hazuga to stay in jail, and denied him bond, while the case goes to a grand jury.
