Amvets hosted a Poker Run in Danville on Saturday to raise money for the Vanover Veterans Village in Somerset.
The village will house homeless veterans who are at least 62-years-old.
Board members said the Vanover Veterans Village is in the beginning stages still, so they rely on the community’s financial support.
A representative from Amvets said their main goal today was to let veterans know they care.
“When you don't have somebody who understands you or doesn't know what the military's like and you need somebody just to have a shoulder to lean on,” Robert Robins said. “That's what we're here for.”
Robins said the Poker Run will become an annual event.
