It was two years ago today that President Obama signed health care reform into law. While the White House was taking a law key approach to the anniversary, Republicans were boisterous Friday about their dislike of what they call “Obamacare.”
Kentucky’s junior U.S. Senator, Rand Paul-R, spoke to business and government leaders in Madison County, repeating his call for repeal of the administration’s health care overhaul. Paul claims premiums are increasing and 20 to 30 million people will lose their private insurance and have to be added to Medicaid.
"That puts a big problem on the state budget but also on hospital budgets and doctor budgets,” Paul told ABC 36 News. “Medicaid is not where they make money, they lose money there."
He says his party needs to “do a better job” coming up with its own ideas for fixing the country’s health care problems. Next week the nation’s highest court will weigh the law’s fate.
"I think there's a better than 50 percent chance the Supreme Court will strike it down,” Paul predicted. “I don't think the act of someone not buying insurance; of choosing not to buy something should be considered to be commerce."
