A laptop computer theft caused a security breach -- affecting about a thousand patients of the Lexington Clinic.

The clinic says the laptop was taken last month from the neurology department in the Saint Joseph office park on Harrodsburg Road.

The clinic says the laptop did contain some patients' names and some medical information. But it did not contain Social Security, credit card, or bank account numbers.

Letters will be sent to the patients affected.
