A Tornado Watch (PDS Tornado Watch - Particularly Dangerous Situation) is in effect across central Kentucky and much of eastern Kentucky until 9 PM EST / 8 PM CST.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect today and tonight across southeastern and much of eastern Kentucky.

A Flood Advisory remains in effect for the Kentucky River in Estill County (Valley View Ferry closed in southern Fayette Co.)

A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect across eastern and southeastern Kentucky for the afternoon and evening.

The first HIGH RISK for severe weather - for any part of the nation since May of last year - remains in effect across the area, along with a PDS Tornado Watch for most of us.  Scattered, strong and borderline severe thunderstorms have crossed parts of southern and eastern Kentucky this morning, with hail reported in Estill, Owsley, Clay and Cumberland Counties.  Flash Flooding is ongoing in far southeastern Kentucky in and around Bell County, Harlan County and Letcher County.

A far more intense round of severe weather will slide across the region late this afternoon and evening, from west to east.  Tornadoes, large hail and damaging straight-line winds are very possible, if not likely on a regional level.  After a high near 70 today, temperatures will nosedive into the middle 30s tonight on he heels of the vicious cold front.  Temperatures will nosedive to the middle 30s tonight, and only recover to 46 tomorrow, but partly sunny skies will provide a return to pleasant weather.  Sunday and Monday will remain unseasonably cold, with highs in the lower 40s.  A weak disturbance will produce a mix of light rain and snow late on Sunday and into Monday, with a transition primarily to light snow overnight.  High pressure will return as warmer air arrives with partly sunny skies on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The next chance for thunderstorms will come on a milder Thursday.
