Deputies in Knox County said they were responding to a fight between a husband and wife in Barbourville on Tuesday, and reportedly had to call Social Services due to the conditions they found in the home.

One deputy said the home on Highway 3439 was in the worst shape he'd ever seen in his career.

Officials reported garbage being piled up in every room, along with rotted food covering the floors.

Kristina and Nicholas Jones' three children were also allegedly sleeping in beds covered in stains and garbage.

Kristina, 24, and Nicholas, 25, were both charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and also had other bench warrants against them on unrelated charges.

They were both lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
