Pain Clinic Owner Sentenced To 15 Years

An out of state pain clinic owner who told his employees to recruit Kentuckians to visit his clinics was sentenced to 15-years in prison.
An out of state pain clinic owner was sentenced Thursday to 15-years in prison.

Prosecutors said Michael Leman, 46, of Louisiana, told his employees to recruit Kentuckians to visit his Pennsylvania and Ohio clinics to unlawfully receive tens of thousands of prescription drugs.

Leman controlled Urgent Care Philadelphia and Urgent Care Cincinnati.

Leman was also ordered to pay $1 million in community restitution.

A federal jury found both Leman and the clinics guilty of the charges in March of this year.

Thursday's proceeding represented Kentucky's first sentence of an out of state pain clinic owner involved in a conspiracy to illegally dispense pills to Kentuckians.
