Police say a motorcyclist is dead, following a collision that occurred at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Commerce Drive at about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Nicholasville police say the preliminary investigation reveals that a motorcycle was northbound on U.S. 27 when a southbound Toyota pick-up started to turn left onto Commerce Drive directly in the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle struck the pick-up, ejecting the rider over the pick-up.  The driver of the motorcycle, Morris White, 42, of Stanford was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the truck was shaken up but was not transported.

U.S. 27 northbound was shut down while reconstruction took place.
