Lexington Police said one person was killed, another seriously injured, while a third person ran from the scene of a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Georgetown Road Tuesday night.

The Fayette County Coroner did not release the name of the man who died pending notification of the family.

Investigators said firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free the person who was seriously hurt.  Police said that person was in the same car as the man who was killed.

Police said one of the driver's ran from the accident scene, which led to a manhunt on the ground with K-9's and from the air with the police helicopter. He was later arrested, his identity has not been released.

Investigators did not say if the man who ran caused the deadly collision or what the circumstances were prior to the accident.

Police closed Georgetown Road between Spurr Road and Iron Works Pike.

Lexington Police were joined in the search by Georgetown Police, the Scott County Sheriff's Department and Kentucky State Police.

We will continue to bring you more information as it becomes available.
