One Meth Bust Leads To Another

Laurel County Sheriff's deputies say an arrest at a meth lab in London led to another meth lab in the city.
Laurel County Sheriff's deputies say a meth lab arrest led to the discovery of another meth lab in London on Friday.

Sheriff John Root says they received a complaint of a possible meth lab on Old Richmond Road.

The sheriff says the homeowner--who lives there with his wife, her brother Kevin R. Smith, his mother, and two small children--went home and found a bag of meth in his yard.

Deputies report that while the man and his wife were away, Smith and his aunt Sandra Proffit made the meth inside the house. They were arrested and charged with manufacturing meth and controlled substance endangerment to a child.

The next day, deputies say Proffit's sister went to her house to feed and water her pets on Fiechter Lane. There, she found remains of another meth lab.

Proffit was charged again with creating meth.

Both Smith and Proffit were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
