State Police said a collision between a Gallatin County ambulance and an SUV killed one person and sent three others to the hospital on Tuesday.

State Police said the crash happened around 10:00 a.m. on Highway 127 North in Gallatin County.

Investigators said an SUV driven by Hunter LeGrand, 22, of Warsaw, was traveling north on Highway 127 when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck the ambulance head-on.

Investigators said the ambulance, carrying two EMT's and a patient, flipped and landed on its roof in the road.

LeGrand was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Hospital.

State Police said LeGrand was wearing a seat belt.

Investigators said LeGrand was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.

An EMT who was in the back of the ambulance, David Waltz, 25, of Carrollton, was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Hospital.

The driver of the ambulance, Justin Shields, 21, of Ghent, was taken by ambulance to University of Cincinnati Hospital.
