Fayette County's Coroner testified Wednesday about realizing that Umi Southworth was still alive.
Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn testified Wednesday during the Donald Southworth murder trial, and described the moment he realized Umi Southworth was still alive.

Donald Southworth is accused in the fatal beating of his wife Umi in June of 2010. On that day, police say they arrived at the crime scene, and assumed she was dead. Ginn and an assistant arrived, and began taking pictures of the body.

Ginn said at one point, his assistant asked if Southworth had just moved. Ginn then said, "I saw her move as well, and John shouted, 'Oh my God, she just breathed.'"

Southworth was then taken to UK Hospital, where she died the next day. As a result of the incident, police changed their procedures at crime scenes.

The trial resumes Thursday.
