A Lawrenceburg police officer was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon after being injured in a two-car wreck Thursday morning.

Lawrenceburg Officer Joe Saunier was involved in the crash at the intersection of Woodford and South Main Street around 8AM. Kentucky State Police say the other driver, 21-year-old Caitlyn Smith, caused the collision by running a red light.

Officials say Smith was transported to the hospital along with Officer Saunier, and was released a short time later.

The Kentucky State Police are currently investigating the crash.
