Number Of Farms In Kentucky Shrinking Quickly

Research shows drops in acreage of Kentucky farms since 2007.

The number of farms in Kentucky is shrinking and it's happening fast.

That's according to a new study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Lexington Herald-Leader found that between 2007 and 2012, nearly a million acres of farmland disappeared.

Those acres came from over 8,000 farms that stopped operations.

According to researchers that puts Kentucky with the highest drop in farmland in the country.
