Fire Marshal: No Smoke Detectors in Fatal House Fires

The State's Fire Marshal's office says no smoke detectors were found in the past week's two fatal fires.
In two months 15 Kentuckians lost their lives in house fires. Two of those fires happened in the past week.

All three of the houses were without smoke detectors.

Fire fighters say they see homes all the time either without smoke detectors or ones that are operational.

Fire officials constantly tell people that if you have working smoke detectors, you can give yourself minutes to escape your home if it catches fire instead of a few seconds.

They say it's also good to talk and act out an escape plan with your family in case your home does catch fire.
