Nicholasville Police Increase Reward In Officer Shooting Case

The Nicholasville Police Department announced on Wednesday it had doubled the original $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who shot an officer on October 19th.
Nicholasville Police have doubled an original reward to $10,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who shot Officer John Rainey on the night of October 19th.

The reward is in addition to the $1,000 being offered by Crime Stoppers.

Officer Rainey was shot in the back panel of his protective ballistic vest as he searched for the suspect.

Officer Rainey did return fire after being shot.

Because of the protective vest, Officer Rainey was not seriously injured.

The exchange of gunfire happened on Mapleleaf Drive in Nicholasville.
