New State Police Cruisers Will Be Chevys Instead Of Fords

The Kentucky State Police is switching from Ford to Chevrolet as the agency buys 125 new cruisers at a cost of more than $3 million.
The Kentucky State Police is switching from Ford to Chevrolet as the agency purchases 125 new cruisers at an estimated cost of $3.17 million.

The agency is moving from the Ford Crown Victoria to the 2012 Chevy Caprice.  The Crown Victoria is no longer made.

The Caprice is a full-size, rear-wheel drive sedan developed exclusively for the United States law enforcement market.

The Caprice has a 355-horsepower V-8 engine.

Aging cruisers will be sold at public auction with the proceeds being used to help pay for the new fleet of vehicles.
