A new mall is coming to Lexington at the corner of Man O’ War Boulevard and Nicholasville Road.

The development is being built on top of a long-standing Fritz family that the family said isn’t easy to sell.

“It’s kinda a bittersweet thing,” John Fritz said.

Seven generations of the Fritz Family grew up on the farm land. But they said as Nicholasville Road developed, their 65 acres of land became unusable.

“After they put Man O’ War in, we had several people approach my father and we were tied up in a lawsuit over ten years,” Fritz commented. “And we really couldn't do anything until we settled the lawsuit.”

Fritz said the lawsuit was settled in 2010, and now the family has decided to sell the property. Their land will now become “The Summit Lexington,” an outdoor fashion center, designed by Bayer Properties in Alabama.

“It would be a really unique thing, which is one of the reasons we chose these people. We don't want to just put anybody in. We wanted something we would be proud of and the neighbors would be proud of,” Fritz said.

As for Fritz, he said he will continue farming on land that is close to Lexington because he said this land is his home.
