On Tuesday, Mayor Jim Gray announced that Brad Chambers will fill the role of Director of the Division of Parks and Recreation.

He replaces Jerry Hancock, who retired last November.

Chambers not only has an extensive track record directing Parks operations in Georgia, Missouri and Tennessee, but he's also a retired Commander in the US Navy Reserve.

Out of over 100 candidates who applied, General Services Commissioner Geoff Reed, who supervises the Division of Parks and Recreation, said Chambers stood out among the crowd. "Brad's broad experience and national reputation in the Recreation field made him an excellent choice to move our systems forward."
