New EKU President Gives First Convocation Address

New Eastern Kentucky University President, Michael T. Benson, kicked off the school year with his first convocation address.

He shared his vision for the campus which included commitment to his "three P's:" people, places, and programs.

Benson took over as president on August 1st, after serving as president of Southern Utah University.

As 12th president of Eastern Kentucky University, he announced a 2.5% salary increase for all employees saying, "This is a start on our part to say 'thank you for what you do for the institution.'"

He also noted that the University will now have one less vice president and of the remaining five, one will be a vice president for student success and one will be a vice president for university relationship and branding.
