Laurel County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Earl Howard Road, early Friday morning.
Police said the victim, 61-year-old Everett Morgan, appeared to be shot several times in the chest at his home in Corbin. According to deputies, Morgan called a neighbor to report the shooting, and the neighbor called 911.
Deputy Kirk Mays said he found Morgan sitting on a couch in the living room, and another man lying, semi responsive and highly intoxicated, on the floor when he arrived to the scene.
Deputies arrested the man found lying on the floor, Michael Wayne Whitehead, 64, for assault.
The Sheriff's Office said they have not determined a motive at this time.
