More suspicious barn fires kept Harrison County firefighters busy early Wednesday morning.

The first fire was spotted just before 2 a.m. off Highway 1842 West in Cynthiana.

Soon after, more calls started coming in. Two more fires were reported off Highway 3044.

One of the burnt barns was filled with tobacco. The estimated loss in that fire is about $20,000.

Firefighters said all three fires are considered suspicious and may be connected to a string of recent fires in neighboring Nicholas County.

Betty Fuller, the owner of one of the barns, said she had heard about the recent fires and she wasn’t surprised when her barn was burned.

“We made the comment that hey, just jokingly, we’ll probably be next. Not realizing that actually,” Fuller said.

State police are investigating the fires, along with two fires Tuesday morning. One of those happened on Republican Pike in Harrison County and the other on Crooked Creek in Nicholas County.

Those follow four other suspicious fires that have broken out recently in Nicholas County.
