Midnight Update: The only remaining rain and snow is now in far eastern Kentucky and should push all the way into West Virginia and Virginia in the next hour. Skies are clearing at a rapid rate across central Kentucky, and the clouds will move out of southern and eastern Kentucky my morning.

The cold air has quickly moved into Kentucky, dropping temperatures back into the low and mid 30s in most cities. Frankfort and Morehead are already in the upper 20s. With wet roads and sidewalks, the rapid drop in temperatures could create black ice in some areas as we head towards the morning commute.

Meteorologist Michael Estime will update you on our cold week ahead and our next chance for snow starting at 5 a.m. on Good Morning Kentucky.

Forecast:
Snow showers will continue to push further south and east through Kentucky Sunday night. A few cities may see light rain to start, which later transitions to snow. Moderate snow will reduce visibilities in some areas. While Lexington may see a few more snowflakes, the heaviest snow has already fallen in the city.

Snow totals will be less than half an inch on grassy surfaces. Roadways should remain warm enough to continue melting most snow that falls on them.

Skies will begin to clear tonight, but as colder air continues to push into Kentucky, temperatures will fall into the low 20s by the Monday morning commute.

We'll be mostly sunny and colder Monday afternoon. Afternoon highs will only be in the upper 30s.

Another round of snow will be possible Tuesday night into Wednesday morning as even colder air arrives.
