More Money Available To Help Kentuckians Pay Winter Heating Bills

More Kentuckians will be able to get help paying their winter heating bills thanks to additional federal money.
More Kentuckians who need help paying their winter heating bills could get that help thanks to an additional $9.5 million from the federal government.

The money will go to Kentucky's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) administers the program in Kentucky through a contract with Community Action Kentucky (CAK), which disburses benefits through Community Action Agencies (CAA) throughout the state.

Every county has at least one staffed CAA office, according to the cabinet.

For more information about applying for LIHEAP, visit www.communityactionky.org or call toll-free, 1-800-456-3452 to find a local CAA.
