State Police said a missing Hindman man was found dead Friday, less than 24-hours after he was reported missing.

Investigators said a call came in about an abandoned pickup along a surface mining road in the Triplett Branch community of Knott County.

When Troopers conducted a routine vehicle registration check, they found out the pickup was related to an active missing person investigation.

A further search of the surrounding area by the State Police Aircraft Section and Troopers on the ground discovered the body of Eric Tysen Fugate, 30, of Hindman.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police said an exact cause of death is unknown at this time.

An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort.
