Mild & Bright Afternoon, Then Turning Stormy

Sunshine will eventually give way to increasing clouds, and scattered thunderstorms will arrive late tonight and especially tomorrow.
Temperatures will continue to soar well above normal, peaking near 60 degrees this afternoon.  Eventually, the sunshine will fade behind increasing clouds late this afternoon, and the clouds will thicken later this evening.  After a dry start to the night, scattered showers and thunderstorms will arrive from the southwest as a warm front lifts into the area from the lower Mississippi Valley.  Some thunderstorms late tonight could be strong, primarily southwest of Lexington.  Temperatures will stay very mild, only falling to 52 late tonight.  Two episodes of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday, the first in the morning, and a second accompanying the cold front around midday and into the afternoon.  Thursday will be partly sunny and dry as high pressure returns, if only for a day.  A second storm system will produce another round of showers and thunderstorms on Friday.  The final showers tied to the late-week storm system will exit eastern Kentucky early on Saturday.  The end of the weekend and beginning of next week will be slightly colder than average with highs in the 40s.  A weaker disturbance will produce a light mix of rain and snow showers on Sunday and Monday.
