Midway College announced Wednesday that Dr. John P. Marsden had been chosen as the school's tenth president.

Dr. Marsden was one of three finalists who visited the campus in October and met with members of the board of trustees, staff, faculty, alumni and community leaders.

He was chosen after a six month national search.

Dr. Marsden and his wife Margaret and son will be relocating from Wilson, North Carolina, where he currently serves as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Barton College.

Dr. Marsden will officially begin his tenure February 1, 2013.

He and his wife will travel to Midway for a welcoming ceremony on December 4, 2012.
