Michelle Obama Delivers EKU Commencement Address

In her speech, she pointed out the national recognition the university has been getting for its efforts to help veterans.
First Lady Michelle Obama spoke to education and business graduates at Eastern Kentucky University's commencement tonight.

The White House says the speech was part of her initiative to support veterans and military families.

In her speech, she pointed out the national recognition the university has been getting for its efforts to help veterans advance their education and she praised the community for being so welcoming to veterans and their families.

One of her main challenges to students was a call to serve whether it's in the military or in their community saying things that seem small make a big difference.

Almost 2,500 degree candidates were recognized at three commencement ceremonies.

Kentucky author Silas House and former university president Dr. Charles Wethington also spoke.
