A Kentucky state senator has pulled a bill, that would require prescriptions to buy medicines that contain pseudoephedrine. It's a key ingredient in making meth. Right now, those medicines are over-the-counter.
Thursday, Senator Robert Stivers of Manchester withdrew the bill. He wouldn't say why. But he did say he still wants, and expects, action.
"We have bill requests in, and hope to move with something that can have substantial support, not be divisive, but have a serious and real impact on the production and distribution of methamphetamine," Stivers said Thursday. "It's very much alive, as long as I'm here."
Opponents of the bill said it would inconvenience law-abiding citizens, who need the medicine.
