An event over the weekend to allow you to get rid of old prescriptions is being called a big success.

Med Toss events were held across the United States, giving consumers a chance to properly dispose of old medicines.

The event in Lexington on Saturday collected than 1,446 pounds of prescriptions, nearly the same amount collected in two med toss events last year.

At a similar event in Frankfort, 56,000 tablets, capsules and other medications were gathered.
