Fire damaged three businesses in Mckee Friday evening.

Now, owners of those businesses and Mckee's Mayor are trying to recover.

Harrison's Barber Shop is completely gone.

Jackson County Flowers & Crafts and Mike's Tire Biz aren't a total loss, but there's quite a bit of damage.

Mayor John Tompkins said the city is trying to increase its population of 900.

But with only 20 businesses, and now three of them gone, he said this could have a negative impact on the city.

"It's damaging, it hurts, and it downs morale," said Tompkins.

But he said Mckee will move forward.

"The city is looking up, so we're not going to let this hurt us or damper our spirits," said Tompkins.

Several fire departments responded to the fire

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
