At the Mayor's annual State of the City address, Jim Gray says new designs for the Rupp District are coming within days.

We don't know when exactly.

The Mayor's staff says no date is scheduled.

In the address, the Mayor repeated what he has said; Rupp needs to be rebuilt.

"Rupp has been aging, a little long in the tooth, and its competitiveness challenged," said Gray.

Gray said the city needs to spend money to make money.

'To successfully compete, like any successful business, must build its brand, its quality of life by leveraging its assets and making investments," said Gray.

On Rupp, UK Administrators have called the city a partner, but this summer VP Eric Monday said the university needs to balance the partnership with the university's goals.

Mayor Gray thanked UK President Dr. Eli Capilouto and Monday, who were in the crowd.

After the State of the City, we briefly spoke with Dr. Capilouto.  He said the university is talking with the city, and listening.
