Mayor Jim Gray says a crackdown on violence in Lexington has been effective.

On Tuesday, Mayor Gray and Police Chief Ronnie Bastin announced 47 arrests, 68 traffic citations, and 205 field investigations related to a wave of violence that took place in October. In just a few days during October, there were several shootings in Lexington -- one causing a death.

The mayor says while violence is down in the affected neighborhoods, it's too early to say the problem has been solved.

Chief Bastin says most of the violence in October was related to illegal drug activity.
