Many Kentuckians Lack Access to Dental Care

New data from the Kentucky Health Issues Poll show 1.7 million Kentucky adults do not have dental insurance
A new poll shows more than half of Kentuckians do not have dental insurance.

The Foundation For A Health Kentucky said four in ten people in the state said they don't have a dentist. The foundation said that's ten times the amount of people who will be at the Kentucky Derby next month. Nearly half of those without insurance also report skipping dentist visits because of the cost. Almost eight in ten of those without a personal dentist or oral health provider indicated they last visited a dentist or dental clinic more than five years ago.

The poll was conducted between September and October of 2012.
