Man Missing On Laurel Lake

The search continues for a man who went missing on Laurel Lake during a Thursday storm.
The search continues for a man who went missing on Laurel Lake Thursday afternoon during a storm.  Family and friends descended on Holly Bay Marina in southwest Laurel County Friday to conduct their own search.  Several of the family and friends told ABC 36 News they are frustrated by the pace of the search by authorities.

32 year old Clarence Holmes was going around Laurel Lake helping people moor their houseboats as the storm approached.  Family members say his pontoon was found on a small sand island, in neutral, still running.

"We're just hopin' that we find him on the banks somewhere,” Traca Wooten, Holmes’ aunt said.  “He's a good swimmer, he's an excellent boater."

Flyers with Holmes’ picture were passed out down the boat slips at the marina and placed on cars parked above the lake.

"Hopefully there's more eyes on the water than just the rescue team now."

Ken Webb of Berea, a friend of Holmes’, went to the lake to help and support the family.  “He’s a water dog,” Webb said of his missing friend.  He loves the water, knows the lake like the back of his hand and we're hopin' we're going to find him safe.""
